The Card Coop is a trading card game and collectibles retailer located in the heart of Holladay, Utah. Specialising in sealed products, singles, accessories, and community events, the shop serves TCG enthusiasts ranging from casual Pokémon collectors to competitive Magic: The Gathering players. Beyond its physical storefront, The Card Coop runs an active community through Discord, TikTok live breaks, and in-store events - positioning itself not just as a store, but as a gathering place for the hobby. Their digital presence needed to match that energy and ambition.

The challenge

The Card Coop had a strong local reputation and a growing online audience, but their existing digital storefront wasn't built to carry the weight of that growth. Managing preorders, back-orders, event spot bookings, and a constantly updating live inventory across multiple TCG categories - each with its own release cadence and product structure - demanded far more than a generic Shopify theme could offer. The store also needed to bridge its online presence with its community channels: Discord, TikTok live streams, and TCGPlayer singles inventory - all of which were operating as disconnected touchpoints. Without a cohesive, well-structured digital experience, potential customers were dropping off before converting, and the brand's vibrant personality wasn't coming through on screen.

The Solution

CoderVu executed a ground-up Shopify customisation that gave The Card Coop a storefront built specifically for the TCG retail model. The navigation architecture was restructured to reflect how collectors actually shop - by game, then by product type - with clean category hierarchies for Pokémon, Magic, Gundam, One Piece, Lorcana, Weiss Schwarz, and accessories. A dedicated Preorders section was built with clear stock-state communication, ensuring customers understood availability and shipping timelines upfront, reducing support overhead. The design language was crafted to reflect the high-energy, community-driven personality of the brand - bold, collector-friendly, and optimised for browsing on both desktop and mobile. Community touchpoints were woven directly into the storefront: Discord join flows, TikTok stream callouts, and TCGPlayer singles inventory links were integrated contextually rather than buried in footers. The result was a unified digital environment where shopping, community, and content coexist naturally.
